Preacher With an Unknown God Rob

Rob VanAlkemade: Preacher With an Unknown God Rob
Rob VanAlkemade accompanies Reverend Billy and The Church of Stop Shopping during their ten-day 'Stop Big Boxes' tour through California. The professed targets of the Reverend's eccentric actions are chains such as Starbucks or WalMart. Exorcism is performed on cash registers or hypnotizing sermons are given, during which the main protagonist occasionally loses consciousness after establishing contact with the credit cards of his parishioners. The documentation ends in New York, shortly after the Republican National Convention. Reverend Billy is arrested on Times Square when calling upon the public to use their creativity and reduce shopping with all means.

Rob VanAlkemade is director, producer, cinematographer, sound recordist and/or editor on a variety of broadcast and independent productions. He is currently directing a feature documentary about Saving Christmas from the Shopocalypse.
