Bigbork & Beatnik
'Between the styles' can seen as Bigbork's trademark. Already sixteen years ago, the first hip hop records spun on the turntables of this Dessau born DJ. Fascinated in hip hop to the limits of belief, the turn to its 'roots' in funk, soul, jazz, and Afro-Cuban Latin music, was just a question of time, and did not take long. Since then, his sets have exhibited a mixture of essential retro and current club sounds, that he later also installed on the dance floors of Halle.
In the mid-1990s, Beatnik brought drum and bass to Leipzig, But the unusual sounds of early nu-jazz also left a lasting impression and increasingly influenced his repertoire.
Since 1998, they have worked together as Bigbork & Beatnik, for Clubzone on MDR Sputnik, and club projects in Halle like bel Étage (Turm), Studio 5 (Objekt 5) and not least the cult opera nights in the annex of Halle's opera house.
Bigbork & Beatnik will continue to celebrate the profession of faith that they think life is all about: "broken beats and future soul."
