Death Can Dance
Death dances in the moments where theatricality and reality of death meet; where one asks 'is this real?' or quietly whispers 'how was it?'
Death Can Dance is a film programme focussing the enactment and staging of death as a real ritual. The feature-length-film Que Viva Mexico and the short film programme Vajtojca, La Ricotta, Muttnik and Les maîtres fous link investigations of ritual experience, paganism, Christianity, modern civilisation and Colonialism are seen as doors to complementary worlds. The films are represented as an a-chronological rupture of how five fundamentally different filmmakers and artists approached and regenerated rites of death and its modern retrieval.
